NBA Trade Deadline Recap

IT has been a crazy trade deadline. I think it's the most busiest trade deadline in recent history of the NBA. Trades really shook the NBA landscape in just 2 days. Power shifted to the East headlined by Melo-to-Knicks. Here is a quick rundown of all the trades made before the trade deadline, and uhmm one that didn't make it.

EPIC FAIL: BOSH-mallow

After hitting just 1 field goal out of 18 attempts (that's 5.6%), the worst percentage by a player taking at least 15 shot since Tim Hardaway went 0/17 in 1991, and then... acted dead, cried, checked his nose in this EPIC FAIL flop.

Breaking Down the Melo Trade

It's been all over the news now. Carmelo Anthony finally got his wish, return home to the Big Apple. But there are mixed reactions as to whether the Knicks gave up too much for a no-defense "superstar," but they did end up with the big fish. In any trade, landing the true star in the entire trade makes it a good start. Lets evaluate each team involved in this blockbuster trade.

Donaire Ends it in Two, bags WBC Title

I wasn't able to put up a preview of this fight but I was really expecting a good fight from Donaire here.  He has the speed advantage, slight edge on power, and just overall skills than Montiel, but the Mexican is no champion for nothing. It was going to be a good fight, so as I thought.

This was over quick, not disappointing but stunning. The first round it quickly got me that Donaire is going to dominate Montiel as he was all over him, hitting a left hook that really shook Montiel. He was never the same after that.

The second round, Montiel was finding his rhythm, being more aggressive. But Nonito Donaire was just getting off Montiel so that he could counter. And then boom. A nasty left hook hit Montiel right in the jaw. Montiel dropped on the mat so hard that his having involuntary reflexes and started kicking in the air. It was such a scary site when his head contort like that.

Props to Montiel being able to stand up on his feet again, I dunno why he was able though. But a couple more shots to the face and it was over less than a minute into the round. New WBC Bantamweight Champion.

Again, I say that Nonito Donaire is the heir apparent to Manny Pacquiao only that he has better English and way more good looking. Celebrate Philippines!

2011 NBA All-Star Saturday Recap

Okay All-Star Saturday is done. It has been an entertaining and fun Saturday Night for the All-Star, the most entertaining since the glory days of Vince Carter. Blake Griffin did put on a "show." It  was fun. Lets  go through a quick recap of the events.

Haeir Shooting Stars

Seriously, does anyone really care about this game? Atlanta ran away with the crown this year, stealing from the favorite Texas squad. I don't have much to say about this. No interest at it at all. I think the NBA should just evaporate this event. Maybe one year at a time. (They did take out the HORSE competition, which is just about right)

Skills Challenge

I predicted Russell Westbrook to avenge his poor performance from last year, and at first was poised to. He was up against Steph Curry in the final round. Curry finished with 28.2 seconds, and I could have sworn Westbrook to top that, but he blew couple of jumpers and that outlet pass really sealed the deal for Curry. He finished at a disastrous 44.2 ticks. Chris Paul may have had given the crown a laugh with his not so top 10 play as he missed the layup, even he was laughing about it.

3-Point Shootout

First of all, what the hell is Kevin Durant doing in the 3-Point Shootout? 36% from downtown, I would put Chauncey in there rather than him. Maybe here there just for drawing crowds. But with two Celtics in there, the crown is really into it, I mean booing them, and they got their wish. Up against the two Celtics, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, James Jones of the Miami Heat grabbed the trophy. When your game is just to light up threes all day with 3 superstars around you, you've got to give him props. I will be biased here as I am a Miami Heat fan, but Jones really showed why he deserved it. With poor performances from the rest, Dorell, Wright, Daniel Gibson, and KD, the 3-point shoot out was just okay.

Slam Dunk Contest

We'll this one I got right from my previous predictions. Man, this was a fun dunk contest I have since for a while. Got to give credits to Serge Ibaka, DeMar DeRozan, and JaVale McGee for giving one hell of a show. The first round was I think where skills showed, but I think DeRozan got robbed here. I mean c'mon Blake's dunk attempt wasn't even that great. The finals between McGee and Blake was all showmanship, in an attempt to revitalize the once sucking dunk contest. But Blake flying over a Kia Optima with Beardie Davis passing from the sunroof was one hell of a show with matching choir singing I believe I can fly for added effect.

Overall, it was fun. I mean they are not quality dunks, but sure was entertaining.  Check out the video recap of the dunks. Great game tomorrow guys.

Reggie Miller snubbed in the Hall of Fame ballots

Everyone expected his him on the ballot, the most heralded nominee of this class, but sad to say, did not garner enough votes to become a finalist in his first year of eligibility. I mean, who on earth would not think that Reggie Miller, THE Reggie Miller, is not a Hall of Famer. Okay, lets size his career. Miller as we all know is a shoot-first player and his play really revolves around outside shooting. His not a great defender and does not have much of a passing game. His career average isn't much, 18.4 ppg during his 18-year tenure, but his at the deadliest when it comes in the playoffs. One of the game's true shooters. I mean shoot me in the head right now, if he is not a HoF. In a class lead by Dennis Rodman anmd Chris Mullin, Reggie Miller is just way qualified compared to them.

Rookie-Sophomore Game starring John Wall

Well the Rookie-Sophomore Game was as expected, a lot of dunk and little if any defense. The Rooks come away with the win for the second straight year. John Wall stole the show from Blake Griffin grabbing the MVP honor sharing it with fellow Kentucky Wildcat, DeMarcus Cousins. Griffin has his fair share of highlight especially the alley-oop bounce pass from Wall.

The Sophomores were led by James Harden's 30 point, who was a late addition replacing injured Tyreke Evans.

Justin Bieber wins MVP at NBA Celebrity All-Star Game

He scored 8 points, grabbed 8 boards, and dished out 4 dimes. He is on the roster of the West who lost, 54-49. Wanna know why he won the award? It because the fans get to vote who wins the award, and certainly nobody stand a chance on something that Bieber is involved with (maybe of course the Grammys, suck it boy).

With the fans having to choose, who else are they gonna pick? Lil Romeo? Common? Jason Alexander? Rob Kardashian? He's no Kim.  They haven't even heard of these guys. Magic Johnson, Scottie Pippen, Jalen Rose were also playing.

"He played pretty well," said Pippen, "but he has an ugly shot."

Pac-Man sporting a Bieber

I'll let you decide. Got nothing more to say.

You know what, I change my mind... Now, they look like twins. No not Bieber.. it's this guy...

2011 NBA All-Star Weekend Predictions for all Events

Its the annual midseason event of the NBA. This year, the All-Star will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. When you think of LA, its automatic, your're thinking about the Lakers. However, Kobe Bryant is not the only the brightest star in Tinseltown. Move over Laker Show, BlakeShow has arrived. Yes, I's speaking of the phenom, Blake Griffin. It's going be all Blake Griffin the whole weekend. Not only that he will be participating for the Sprite Slam-Dunk Contest, but he will be also suit up for the Rookie-Sophomore Game, as well as the main event, the All-Star Game itself.

Here are my predictions for the events happening this weekend. These are not analyst type predictions, but just a common man's pick. I will also be previewing some of the events including all the participants.

Dwyane Wade should be the quarterback for the Miami Dolphins

Check this out! I mean this one is on the books, may a record for longest alley-oop play in the NBA approximately 90 feet.  And I thought the Golden State's alley-oop was great with Steph Curry and Dorell Wright, but this beats them all. This is what you get when you ahve both of these players.

Rajon Rondo getting into the Heat

I really hate Boston, next to the Lakers. I mean Rondo is a great point guard, top 5 perhaps, and he's the one putting together Boston's rusty old parts. During this game, I was impressed by him guarding LeBron James. But you really have to do this?

Here the video for a little more detail. I agree with Van Gundy here, this is not just right.

EPIC FAIL: Big Baby on the Breakaway.......Ooops!

This reminded me of an old Sprite commercial with Grant Hill. Glen Davis, c'mon man, even my little brother jumps higher than you. I'll buy you some athleticism.

2651

Take a look at Ray Allen's record-breaking three-pointer.

Last Friday, against their bitter rival, the LA Lakers, Ray Allen made NBA history by hitting his 2561st 3-pointer in his career, surpassing NBA legend sharpshooter Reggie Miller, who, thanks to the basketball Gods, is present and covering the game. What better way to have a record night in front of a boisterous crowd.

With Reggie Miller congratulating him at the deadball, even Kobe Bryant acknowledging Allen's feat.

Ray Allen's career is not going to end anytime soon, with his great longetivity, he may add a little more to have more cushion to the 3rd placer, Jason Kidd.

This record may perhaps be the highlight of Allen's career.

Deron Williams ended Sloan's era in Utah

Okay, I still believe that D-Will is still in top 3 point guards in the NBA.  I mean he's a great player, and I would trust the team in his hands, but his rift with Coach Jerry Sloan just halted the career of the third-winningest coach in NBA history.

Nuh-oh, no you don't coach.
I know, Sloan's system is quite old-school, and  lot of young players may not want to play with that kind especially in these generation, but he has been very successful with that. So apparently, Williams didn't like how the the offense is running, he wants to run the play outside of Sloan's conservative system and takes control of each play, and that apparently is building a huge gap in the locker room. The other players tend to side with William's as he is their star player and unquestioned leader, their All-Star. I guess Deron threatened the franchise that he would not re-up his contract this summer if Sloan is still coaching. The next thing you knew, Sloan resigned just a few months after renewing a contract.

But this is all tsismis...

Teenage Dream by... er... the Younghusbands???

Okay, so I guess everyone is settling in after the recent victory of the Philippine Azkals against Mongolian Blue Wolves in the AFC.  And I know also that you keeping up with Phil Younghusband's flirting with Angel Locsin.

Now I present you The Younghusband's. (I don't know if they're auditioning for Glee or something)

This is just so gay, WTF!?

JJ Hickson blocks Blake Griffin

It's not always Christmas for Blake Griffin. JJ Hickson shows him why.Take a look at this HUGE block.

Side Note: The Cavs won this game, ending their record 26-game futility.

2011 NBA All-Stars Jerseys

Since the NBA All-Start is just around the corner, I give you the All-Stars jersey replica. NBA stores started selling these almost several weeks before the event for $250. What do you think about them?

Western Conference

Eastern Conference

The NBA also decided to test the skin-tight compression tank, the one usually worn under the standard jersey. Players have the options of wearing just the skin-tight tanks rather than putting the standard jersey over.
