2011 NBA All-Star Weekend Predictions for all Events

Its the annual midseason event of the NBA. This year, the All-Star will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. When you think of LA, its automatic, your're thinking about the Lakers. However, Kobe Bryant is not the only the brightest star in Tinseltown. Move over Laker Show, BlakeShow has arrived. Yes, I's speaking of the phenom, Blake Griffin. It's going be all Blake Griffin the whole weekend. Not only that he will be participating for the Sprite Slam-Dunk Contest, but he will be also suit up for the Rookie-Sophomore Game, as well as the main event, the All-Star Game itself.

Here are my predictions for the events happening this weekend. These are not analyst type predictions, but just a common man's pick. I will also be previewing some of the events including all the participants.

                  Slam Dunk Contest

Participants: Blake Griffin (LAC)
                    JaVale McGee (WAS)
                    Serge Ibaka (OKC)
                    DeMar DeRozan (TOR)

Predicted Winner: Blake Griffin
Dark Horse: DeMar DeRozan

                     3-Point Shootout

    Participants: Ray Allen (BOS)
                       Daniel Gibson (CLE)
                       Kevin Durant (OKC)
                       James Jones (MIA)
                       Dorell Wright (GSW)
                       Paul Pierce (BOS)

Predicted Winner: Ray Allen
Dark Horse: Dorell Wright

                    Skills Challenge

Participants: Russell Westbrook (OKC)
                   Derrick Rose (CHI)
                   Chris Paul (NOH)
                   Stephen Curry (GSW)

Predicted Winner: Russell Westbrook
Dark Horse: Chris Paul

                   Rookie-Sophomore Game

Predicted Winner:  Rookies

Without Tyreke Evan, the Sophs just don't have of a deep talent compared the Rooks. Spearheaded by the host Blake Griffin, and reunion of Kentucky's John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins, DeJuan Blair and company simply cannot match this group.

All-Star Game

Predicted Winner: West, by a slim margin.

The East starter are great, but not much on the bench with four Celtics, two Hawks, and uhmm Chris Bosh.
The West are talent laden all over. I expect a close game. I expect Blake Griffin to breakout, maybe do a Yao Ming, winning MVP as a rookie.

Anyways, its going to be a busy weekend. The predictions are based in my own opinion, any problem with that then make your own, or you can comment here, and we'll argue, hehe.
